Primitive Fire-Making Intensive Class

The Fire Making Intensive is designed to bring a student to the level of mastery at building and maintaining fires in almost any circumstance. We will discuss gathering and preparing the correct materials, arranging the fire, ignition techniques, and protecting the blaze from wind and rain.

This course is designed to be experimental, primarily hands-on, with a minimum of lecture time. Everyone who attends will get the opportunity to make char-cloth, make fire with the flint and steel, the fire piston, the bow drill and hand drill, as well as a glass lens, and a ferro rod.

Ample opportunity for improving existing skills will be available if you have trained in the past. At a minimum you will develop the ability to make a fire with a single spark, every single time.

Students will leave with some of the char cloth that we process during the course and we will have flint and steel kits available to purchase.

Because I like hands-on training, we waited for the cold months to host this class. Some group activities will be included, in four person teams, so bring some friends that you are comfortable with. Class max will be 30 participants.
